Robin in Hoylake

Extra Poetry

In response to the rockets;
the planes,
the bombs,
the rubble of UN headquarters,
of schools, of houses.

Does Herod live again
that our children die for your fear?

In a siege, a route for food
for medication
for hope
also allows weapons to pass

A trapped animal will fight back,
a freed one
builds a nest.

In fear we seek out your enemies
in anger we join them.

Maybe you are right,
kill us all and you will no longer fear,
but the memories of your neighbours are long
and often your friends despair.
