ASBOs

Four sparrows line the roof of the shed
watching the six on the feeder.
Pigeons patrol the grass below
looking for scraps and seeds that are dropped.

The starlings have already taken their turn
watched from the roof by the sparrows
and even the great-tit has visited,
stealing a peck at the nuts.

Now the garden is empty
except for three magpies
who fight among themselves
until I chase them away.
